What is it?
In the traditional design process, computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided engineering (CAE) tools are used sequentially. The designer authors the geometry in CAD and verifies using CAE.
In our simulation driven design approach, CAD and CAE are deployed in parallel. CAE, using intelligent technology, automatically determines the optimum geometric configuration, allowing us to reach the best performing design, faster.
Coming of Age
The increasing availability of inexpensive computer power has led to the development of CAE software tools which are more intelligent, integrated, and predictive. CAE can now deliver in highly pressurized design environments.

Over the last decade, Altair has used Simulation Driven Design to pioneer innovation for our clients. It has resulted in designs that exhibit minimum weight and outstanding performance in industry leading timescales. As many leading OEMs take notice (e.g. Airbus, Renault etc.), Altair is helping them by facilitating the development of dedicated centers for the application of simulation technology called "Optimization Centers".
